Salam now acting chairman of Ishwardi upazila

Ishwardi Upazila Parishad’s Vice Chairman Abdus Salam Khan got the responsibility of the Chairman. On January 20, the chairman of the council became vacant due to the death of veteran freedom fighter Naib Ali Biswas. On Tuesday (January 6), Vice Chairman and Joint General Secretary of Upazila Awami League, Abdus Salam Khan took charge of the Chairmanship.
The Ministry of Local Government in a letter sent on Monday (February 5) declared the position of chairman vacant due to death. According to Article 15 (3) of the Parishad, panel chairman-1 Abdus Salam Khan is given financial powers along with overall responsibility of the chairman until the new chairman assumes responsibility in another letter.
Ishwardi upazila executive officer Subir Kumar Das confirmed the chairman’s assumption of responsibility and said that the post became vacant after the death of upazila parishad chairman Bir Muktijodha Naib Ali Biswas on January 20. In order to run the activities of the Parishad properly, on February 5, the senior assistant secretary of Upazila-1 branch of the Ministry of Local Government, Puravi Goldar, has been instructed to give him responsibility and financial power.
Chairman of the Parishad Abdus Salam Khan wished for the forgiveness of the soul of the late chairman Naib Ali Biswas and said, I will try to fulfill the responsibility entrusted to me with honesty and devotion.
