SC asks how customers can get back money from fraud e-commerce

Staff Reporter :
The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court on Monday raised a question about how the customers would get back the stuck money after investing in various fraud online-based e-commerce and LLM companies in Bangladesh.

A four-member bench of the Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice Obaidul Hassan raised this question during a hearing in connection with the case of UniPay, a multilevel marketing company (MLM).

At one point of the hearing, the court told Anti-Corruption Commission lawyer Khurshid Alam Khan that customers need to get their money back from fraudulent e-commerce websites like Alesha Mart, Evaly and UniPay.

The apex court said customers were lured and cheated by investing money in these companies. Anyway, they have invested money. How will they get this money?

Hundreds of people, after investing in various online-based e-commerce and LLM companies, have repeatedly approached the court to get their money back, the court added.
