4 suspected muggers held in Jatrabari

Four suspected muggers were arrested by the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit in Jatrabari of the capital on Sunday while they were allegedly preparing to commit mugging.

A CTTC team carried out the operation in the Golchattar area of Jatrabari around 8:15am, acting on a tip-off, said Niaz Mehedi, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Media) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police.

The arrestees were identified as Mohammad Ali, 20, Nurnabi Akash Majhi, 23, Jamal, 25, and Sohan, 26.

According to the police official, the four were arrested while allegedly preparing to commit mugging in the area.

The arrestees were later produced before a court, he said.

The operation was conducted by members of the CTTC unit of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police as part of efforts to prevent mugging and other street crimes in the capital.
