3 die including mother, daughter in road mishap

Three people including mother and daughter were killed and 4 people including the auto driver were injured in a truck-auto collision in Muktagacha.

The accident took place near Cherumandal Bridge under construction in Bhavki Mor area of the upazila on Mymensingh-Tangail highway at 3 pm on Monday.

In this accident, the truck fell into a ditch and the battery-powered auto rickshaw was crushed.

According to eyewitnesses and police sources, a truck (Tangail-T-02-0492) from Muktagacha at around 3 pm while going through the alternative road of the bridge under construction collided head-on with a passenger battery operated auto rickshaw from Kalibari to Muktagacha along with the passenger mother and daughter.

3 people were killed on the spot. 4 seriously injured people including auto driver were admitted to Muktagacha Upazila Health Complex.

The deceased are Hasina Begum (40), wife of Saudi expatriate Maulana Nazrul Islam of Binodbari Mankon village of the upazila and her 3-year-old daughter Adiba, the other is Minal Chandra Dey, a retired primary teacher, son of deceased Usharni Chandra Das of Gorshail village.

Sushant Kumar Dey, Station Officer of Muktagacha Fire Service, said that a culvert is being constructed in Cherumandal area of Mymensingh-Tangail highway. Due to this, cars were moving on one side of the road.

A Tangail-bound truck hit the auto when it overturned while the auto was on the side of the working road to come towards Muktagacha. Three people including mother and daughter died on the spot.
