7 establishments fined in Chatmohar
The Consumer Rights Protection Department conducted a drive in Chatmohar Municipality of Pabna and fined six food manufacturing and selling establishments 1 lakh 72 thousand taka.
The drive was conducted in the old market area of the municipality from Tuesday morning to noon.
During this, two sweet shops, two restaurants, a bakery, an oil mill and a pesticide and seed selling shop were fined for various irregularities, not displaying price lists, not having expiry dates in food items, tampering with weights, and making adulterated oil.
Among them, Annapurna Mishtanna Bhandar was fined Tk 50,000, Sona Mishtanna Bhandar Tk 20,000, Partha Kundu of Janata Oil Mill Tk 50,000, Shahidul Islam of Swad Bakery Tk 30,000, Azim Uddin of Star Hotel and Restaurant Tk 10,000, Azim Sheikh of Adarsh Bija Bhandar Tk 2,000 and A. Majid of M/s Majid Store Tk 10,000.
Mahmud Hasan Roni, Assistant Director of Pabna, Department of Consumer Rights Protection, conducted the drive. Chatmohar Upazila Safe Food Inspector S. M. Aslam Hossain, Sanitary Inspector of Chatmohar Municipality Abul Kalam Azad Dulal were present at the time.
Mahmud Hasan Rony, Government Director of the Consumer Rights Protection Department, Pabna, said that after receiving secret information that adulterated and expired food items were being sold in various places in Chatmohar, a drive was conducted there and seven establishments were fined Tk 172,000. The drive will continue.
