Easy win for Chattogram

Chattogram Challengers posted an easy six-wicket win over Durdanto Dhaka in their match of the Ispahani Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Cricket at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the capital’s Mirpur on Monday.

Chasing Dhaka’s modest total of 136 for the loss of eight wickets in the stipulated 20 overs, Chattogram sailed home making 137 for the loss of four wickets when they had 10 balls to spare.

Chattogram Challengers had a sorrow start as opener Avishka Fernando (12) was trapped leg before wicket by left-arm pacer Shoriful Islam when Chattogram’s score was 19.

After Fernando’s dismissal, one-down Imranuzzaman (1) was trapped leg before wicket by Shoriful Islam when Chatogram’s total was 28 for the loss of two wickets.

After Imranuzzaman’s departure, opener Tanzid Hasan and second-down Shahadat Hossain mended the innings contributing together 53 runs for the third wicket partnership before Shahadat Hossain was dismissed by Usman Qadir when Chattogram’s score was 81 for the loss of three wickets.

Shahadat Hossain scored 22 from 31 deliveries featuring two fours.

After Shahadat’s departure, Tanzid Hasan and Najibullah Zadran added together 24 runs in the four-wicket stand before Tanzid was dismissed by Taskin Ahmed when Chattogram’s total was 105 for the loss of four wickets.

Tanzid Hasan hit a superb 49. His 40-ball innings was decorated with five fours and one sixer. He was adjudged the Man of the Match for his outstanding innings.

After Tanzid’s dismissal, Najibullah and Shavagata Hom guided their team to reach the winning spot.

Najubullah remained unbeaten with 32 runs. His 19-ball stormy innings had three sixes and a four. Shuvagata remained unbeaten with seven runs.

Shoriful Islam got two wickets conceding 40 runs, while Usman Qadir and Taskin Ahmed took one wicket apiece.

Durdanto Dhaka faced an early disaster as they lost their four wickets for 33 runs.

Fourth-down Irfan Sukkur and fifth-down Lasith Croospulle repaired the damage contributing 73 runs for the fifth wicket partnership before Lasith Croospulle was dismissed by Curtis Campher when Durdanto Dhaka’s total was 106 for the loss of five wickets.

Croospulle hit a sparkle 46. His 31-ball innings was ornamented with two sixes and three fours.

After Croospulle’s dismissal, Durdanto Dhaka’s batters failed to build any notable partnership.

Irfan Sukkur made a fine 27. He struck two fours in his 26-ball knock before he was bowled out by Bilal Khan when Dhaka’s score was 116 for the loss of seven wickets.

Al-Amin Hossain and Bilal Khan bagged two wickets each instead of 15 and 28 runs respectively.

Besides, Campher, Shuvagata Hom and Nihaduzzaman took one wicket each for 10, 20 and 29 runs respectively.
