Two people burnt alive in Bogra

Two people were burnt alive and another suffered burn injuries after hartal supporters hurled a petrol bomb in a truck near Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College and Hospital (SZMCH) on Thursday. One of them died after hospitalised.
The deceased were identified as Shahidul Islam, 35, son of Afzal Hossain of village Bonteghari under Shibganj upazila and Polash, 32, hailed from Sheikh para under Shailokupa upazila of Jhenidah district. Shahidul was betel-leaf trader and Polash was driver of the truck.
Assistant Police Super (ASP) of Bogra Mr Gaziur Rahman said blockaders threw petrol bombs in the truck. Later the truck hit two buses, standig beside road, and plunged into ditch when its driver lost control over steering.
The injureds were admitted to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College and Hospital where two persons died, emergency doctor declared.
However, locals claimed two people were burnt to death in the petrol bomb attack to a Dinajpur bound truck from Jhinaidah.
Abul Bashar Officer-in-charge of Bogra shadar police station said a betel leaf-loaded truck was attacked on the Dhaka-Bogra highway. Bogra police officials also said police team arrested 15 Jamaat-Shibir activists including Ratan Mia. A case is underway to file with shadar police station, OC added.
