Aryan's death at United Medical: DGHS to take action
Staff Reporter :
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said the United Medical College Hospital had no licence and it was being operated illegally.
The health directorate will take actions against the medical college, located in the capital’s Badda area, for illegally providing treatment to Ayan, a five-year-old minor who died during his circumcision procedure at medical establishment recently. Dr Abu Hussain Md Moinul Ahsan, Director (Hospitals and Clinics), DGHS, told this to the journalists at a press briefing at the health directorate on Thursday.
The DGHS’s announcement comes after Shamim Ahmed, father of victim Ayan, sought cancellation of the medical college’s licence following investigation into his son’s death on Wednesday (January 10).
It may be mentioned, “United Medical Authority had applied for registration, but their application was defective. They have to apply again properly. As there is no registration, there is no opportunity for them to carry out treatment,” Dr Abu Hussain said.
