Morrelganj housewife killed in land dispute

A housewife named Sahinur Begum (42) was chopped to death by the opponents when an armed clash took place between the two rival groups of people on Thursday (January 04) afternoon in the village Guatala under Morrelganj Upazila in Bagerhat district, according to a delayed report received here.
It is learnt from the police and the locals that an enmity had been prevailing between one Zakir Hossain Talukdar and his cousin and neighbor Montu Talukdar of village Guatala over the border-litigation for long.
Following the matter mentioned above that on the day of occurrence (Thursday) afternoon a gang of armed miscreant led by Montu Talukdar attacked the dwelling house belonging to Zakir Hossain Talukdar.
At that time the armed miscreants chopped Shahinur Begum, wife of Zakir Hossain Talukdar left and right. As a result, she sustained fatal injuries on her person and some others of both the parties were also injured in the clash.
They are Zakir Hossain Talukdar (50), his son Robiul Islam Talukdar (25), Montu Talukdar (48), Paltu Talukdar (35), Nantu Talukdar (27).
Fatally injured Shahinur Begum was recovered from the spot in the evening (at about 7 am) and rushed to Morrelganj Upazila Health Complex where the physician on duty declared her dead. All other injured persons were admitted to the same Health Complex.
In this connection husband Zakir Hossain, husband of the deceased housewife registered a case with Morrelganj PS on Friday morning (January 05) accusing 8 persons mentioning the name of Montu Talukdar as accused No.1 and some others without mentioning their names. Md. Shamsuddin, Officer-in-charge of Morrelganj PS told the dead body of the housewife was already sent to Bagerhat district Sahdar Hospital for autopsy.
