Barishal AL leader jailed for buying vote

A mobile court in Barishal has sentenced Awami League (AL) president of Ward No. 22 of Barishal City Corporation under Barisal-5 constituency to 15 days imprisonment for influencing voters in exchange of money.
On Saturday (6 January) night after 10 :00 PM, he was given this sentence in the area adjacent to Madina Mosque, Ward No. 22 of the city. Kotwali Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC-Investigation) Amanullah Al Bari confirmed the matter. He said that Ward No. 22 Awami League president Manjur Morshed was enticing voters to vote in exchange of money by going to the houses of various voters in his area.
On receiving the complaint, he was arrested and handed over to the mobile court. The court judge sentenced him to 15 days in jail. Meanwhile, 17 thousand taka was seized from him. He admitted to be a supporter of Salahuddin Ripon of independent candidate Truck symbol.
