Eleven including Chhatradal President Sohel placed on 4-day remand

Eleven people including Dhaka University Chhatradal President Khorshed Alam Sohel and Krishak Dal Joint Convener Mehedi Hasan Palash were placed on a four-day remand in a case filed with New Market Police Station in the capital under the Special Powers Act.
Metropolitan Magistrate Tahmina Haque passed the order. Other remanded accused people are- Haji Baha Uddin Nobel, Md Zakir Hossain, Khandaker Md Nazrul Islam, Md Sumon, Md Rakibul Islam, Md Nurul Amin Payel, Md Kaikobal Hossain Kabir, Md Liton Hossain and Md Zahangir Alam.

Detective Branch (DB) Police produced the accused in the court on Thursday and sought a seven-day remand for the accused to quiz them in the interest of necessary investigation.

Earlier, they were arrested on Wednesday night from different parts of the capital after conducting raid in the capital.

During the raid the law enforcers claimed that they recovered 50,000 bomb making materials, fresh bomb and different materials including gunpowder.

New Market Thana police filed the case under the Special Powers Act in connection with the incident.
