Staff Reporter :
The High Court on Sunday summoned Nurul Haque Nur, president of a fraction of the Gono Odhikar Parishad and also former Vice-President of Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU), on charge of delivering defaming speeches against the judges.
The HC asked him to appear before it on January 17 to explain his speeches delivered regarding the judges.
The High Court bench of Justice J B M Hassan and Justice Razik-Al-Jalil passed the order on a Suo Motu move (an action taken by a court on its own accord).
Nur made a speech at a rally held on December 7 this year by the Gono Odhikar Parishad. His speech was published in the dailies on the following day. The HC bench summoned him after it had been noticed over the speech.
