Ansar-VDP opens new field facilities
Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Force has strengthened its field-level infrastructure with modern office buildings in two Upazilas and officers’ accommodation in six districts.
The newly constructed facilities were inaugurated on Saturday by the force’s Director General Major General Abdul Motaleb Sazzad Mahmud through a video conference from the Ansar-VDP Academy in Safipur, Gazipur.
The initiative is aimed at strengthening the organisational capacity of the Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Force, increasing the efficiency of field operations and ensuring better working conditions for its officers and employees.
The new infrastructure comprises three-storey foundation-based modern and standard Upazila Ansar and VDP office buildings in Haripur of Thakurgaon and Dhunat of Bogura.
In addition, officers’ accommodation has been constructed for officials of district commandant offices in Chapainawabganj, Sirajganj, Jashore, Nilphamari, Kurigram and Lakshmipur.
At the inauguration ceremony, Major General Abdul Motaleb Sazzad Mahmud described the construction of the facilities as an important institutional initiative under the force’s continuing efforts to enhance its overall capacity.
He stressed the need for proper use, maintenance and preservation of the newly built facilities.
The director general also urged all concerned to perform their government duties while upholding sound financial practices, moral values and social values.
Major General Sazzad Mahmud stressed that ensuring transparency and accountability in financial management was crucial.
Without financial discipline and good governance, he said, it would not be possible for the force to properly achieve its designated goals for the welfare of the country and its people.
He called on officials and employees to serve the public with a spirit of mutual cooperation, ethical values and professional commitment.
The director general said the newly constructed facilities were important elements in strengthening the force’s institutional capacity and urged officials and employees to ensure their optimum use.
He expressed the expectation that effective use of the modern infrastructure and disciplined administrative management would make the force’s field-level services more dynamic, effective and people-oriented.
The Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Force has been implementing various development initiatives on a continuing basis to strengthen organisational capacity, improve infrastructure, modernise the force and accelerate field-level activities.
The newly constructed Upazila office buildings and officers’ accommodation are expected to further advance these efforts while strengthening the force’s organisational foundation and expanding its services at the grassroots level.
