Bangladesh Under-19 Cricket team defeated Japan Under-19 Cricket team by nine wickets in their second Group-B match of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Under-19 Asia Cup at Dubai in the United Arab Emirates on Monday.
Bangladesh Under-19 Cricket team have taken the top spot of Group-B grabbing four points from two matches, while Japan Under-19 Cricket team remained with naught from as many matches.
Chasing Japan’s paltry total of 99 off 47.1 overs, Bangladesh sailed home making 100 for the loss of one wicket when they had 232 balls to spare.
Bangladesh had a good start with two openers Ashiqur Rahman and Jishan Alam put on together 71 runs in the opening stand before Jishan Alam was bowled out by Charles Hinze.
After dismissal of Jishan Alam, Asiqur Rahman and one-down batter Chowdhury Md Rizwan guided their team to anchor the victory target contributing together 29 runs for the second wicket partnership.
Asiqur Rahman remained unbeaten with 55 runs. His 45-ball innings was belted with eight fours.
Jishan Alam hit a polished 29. He hit four fours and a sixer in his 16-ball knock.
Chowdhury Md Rizwan remained unbeaten with 10 runs.
Charles Hinze took one wicket conceding 30 runs.
Earlier, all the Japanese batter failed to shine with the willow against the tight, controlled and superb bowling attack of Bangladesh youngsters.
Nihar Parmar, Kiefer Lake and Kazuma Kato-Stafford were the only batter, who could reach double digit figures scoring 18, 17 and 13 runs respectively.
Mahfuzur Rahman and Ariful Alam bagged two wickets each instead of nine and 15 runs respectively.
Rohanat Doullah, Maruf Mridha,Chowdhury Md Rizwan, Iqbal Hossain and Sheikh Parvez took one wicket each for eight, 10, 14, 18 and 24 runs respectively.
