Govt bars open-air event on December 31 night

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan on Tuesday said open-air events would not be allowed on December 31 night to celebrate the New Year.
He said these after a meeting on law and order on the occasion of Christmas and 31st Night celebration at the Secretariat on Tuesday, reports media.
He said: “Law enforcement agencies will operate under a four-tier security arrangement across the entire country, including Dhaka.
No events will be allowed in open spaces after 6pm, focusing on New Year’s Eve.
This security measure has been taken in preparation for the January 7 election.
Those who wish to organize events will need to do so indoors. Outdoor programs will not be permitted.
