BNP-backed lawyers win Joypurhat BAR

BNP-backed Nationalist Lawyers Oikya Parishad has won an absolute victory in the Joypurhat District Lawyers Association elections. Among the 11-member executive committee of the District Lawyers Association, 7 positions including president and general secretary have been won. Jatiyatavadi Lawyers Oikya Parishad and Awami Lawyers Parishad have won only three positions including vice-president. Only an independent candidate won the member post.
The election was held on Saturday at Lawyers Association Building. Voting was held from 9 am to 2 pm. At the end of the election, the head of the election management committee Ad. Abdur Rahman-2 announced the results.
Ad Rafiqul Islam Tarafdar Tarun has been elected to the post of president from BNP-backed nationalist lawyer Oikya Parishad. He got 124 votes. Ad Nripendranath Mondal (PP) of Bangabandhu Awami Lawyer Parishad is the same got 88 votes. Ad Shahnur Rahman Shaheen was elected as General Secretary. He got 131 votes. Ad Sushant Kumar Mahant of the Bangabandhu Awami Lawyer Parishad in the same post got 82 votes. Others elected from Nationalist Lawyers Oikya Parishad are Joint General Secretary Ad. Alamgir Kabir, Finance Secretary AKM Abu Sufian Palash, Audit Secretary Ad. Abdul Momin Hamidul and those elected as members are Ad. Soheli Parveen, Ed. Shahidul Islam-3.
Awami Lawyers Council and Combined Lawyers Coordinating Council, Vice-Presiden Ad. Hafizar Rahman, Ad Yusuf Ali as Library and Publicity Secretary and Ad. Muhaiminul Haque Siddiqui (Tanraj) as Secretary for Entertainment, Sports and Culture and Ad. Golam is elected as a member from Independent. Mola.
Out of 219 voters, 217 lawyers exercised their right to vote.
Chief Election Commissioner Abdur Rahman said that the election was held in a fair and impartial manner. The winners will serve as District Bar Association for the next one year.
