Actress Mahi, her husband Rakib acquitted in DSA case

The Dhaka Cyber Trubunal yeterday acquitted actress Mahia Mahi and her husband Rakib Sarker in a case filed against them under the Digital Security Act (DSA).

Judge AM Julfiquar Hayat passed the order tacking into cognizance of the final report in the case.

Thursday (November 30) was earlier fixed for submission of the final report and police submitted the report to the court recommending the acquittal of the couple.

On March 17, police filed the case with Gazipur Metropolitan Bason Police Station on the charges of assault and extortion under the DSA. SI Mohammad Rokon Mia lodged the case.

In the case statement the couple were accused of spreading defamatory comments through face book live to aggravate the law and order situation.

However, as the Investigation Officer could not find any evidence of the charges, he sought acquittal of the two accused people to the court.
