CTTC arrests one over Facebook love scam

Members of Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Crime unit (CTTC) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested a scammer who made nearly Tk 1 crore by conning women through Facebook messenger.

The arrestee was identified as Benajir Hossain, 40, son of Jamir Hossain of Narail district, reports media.

Md Asaduzzaman, chief of CTTC unit disclosed the matter while briefing reporters on Monday.

Benajir’s main target was to attract single women through making fake profiles in the social networking site Facebook and he scammed almost Tk 1 crore by conning a woman in the past seven months, Tk 15 lakh from another woman and collected 50 smart phones from a number of women in the same way.
