Sanjeeb Chowdhury still today in songs and stories

composer and singer Sanjeeb Chowdhury.
Yesterday (November 19) was the 16th anniversary of the late bohemian singer’s death anniversary. He died on November 19, 2007 due to cerebral hemorrhage. Many years after his death, he is still alive to his fans.
Sanjeeb Chowdhury was born on December 25, 1962 in Baniachong upazila in Habiganj. He was the seventh among nine children of father Nani Gopal Chowdhury and mother Provashini Chowdhury.
Sanjeeb Chowdhury graduated from Dhaka University’s Department of Mass Communication and Journalism with the first division and completed his post-graduate degree. Then he joined journalism in the eighties.
Sanjeeb Chowdhury was a journalist and singer-composer-lyricist. He was one of the founders of the popular band ‘Dalchhut’.
His contribution was in the formation of collective cultural alliance. He was also close to politics.
He was an active participant in the anti-dictatorship movement of the nineties. At that time, Sanjeeb Chowdhury, who was involved in progressive student politics, hung a harmonium around his neck, wrote songs on the spot, and he used to plow the streets with his team singing chorus songs.
Sanjeeb Chowdhury’s journalism which changed the style of feature journalism started with ‘Uttoron’ newspaper.
After that, he worked at daily Ajker Kagoj and Bhorer Kagoj respectively. He spent a long time of his life being involved in this once very popular daily from its inception. After that, he joined daily Jai Jai Din as Feature Editor.
In addition to journalism, Sanjeeb also left a mark of talent in music. He was involved in music in his childhood. Apart from singing, he also wrote and composed songs himself.
In 1996, he formed the band team ‘Dalchhut’ along with Bappa Mazumder. Sanjeeb Chowdhury, one of the vocalists of ‘Dalchhut’, won the entire Bangladesh by singing the song ‘Gari Chole Na’ by Baul legend Shah Abdul Karim.
He was the creator of soulful songs like ‘Sada Moila Rangila Pale Awla Batash Khele’, ‘Tomar Barir Ronger Melay’, ‘Aguner Kotha Bondhuke Boli’, ‘Amake Andho Kore Diyechhilo Chand’, ‘Ami Tomakei Bole Debo’, ‘Rickshaw Keno Aste Chole Na’, etc.
