Tea workers hold rally on 11-point demand

On 11-point demand including fixing the national minimum wage at Tk 20,000, canceling the gazette against the interests of tea workers, guaranteeing the land rights of tea workers and fixing the daily wage at Tk 500, canceling the National Service Bill 2013 and declaring the minimum wage of garment workers at Tk 25,000 and prosecuting the killing of workers. Recently at Sylhet Court Point, a Tea workers’ rally was held at the initiative of Jatiya Sramik Sangram Parishad, Sylhet district.
Ujjal Roy, Central General Secretary of Bangladesh Workers’ Federation presided over and Sushant Sinha Sumon, Central Member Secretary of Democratic Workers’ Movement conducted the Rally. National Workers’ Struggle Council Central Coordinator Manjurul Ahsan Khan, Central President of Bangladesh Workers’ Federation, Zahirul Islam addressed the rally.
Speakers in the rally said, on one hand, the farce of the owners on the minimum wages of the garment workers, on the other hand, the gazette against the interests of the tea workers is violating the interests of the workers in every case. Killing of workers by indiscriminate firing by the police fueled by the owner class has become a tool to suppress the movement today.
