9.34 lakh people so far receive govt legal services

A total of 9,34,730 people have received government legal services till August 2023 at free of cost since 2009.

According to the statistics of the National Legal Aid Services Organization (NLASO), 26,666 people received the services through Supreme Court Legal Aid Office, 7,24,219 people received the services from the 64 District Legal Aid Offices, 27,910 people from the Labour Legal Aid Cells of Dhaka and Chattogram, and 1,55,935 people received the services from the Legal Aid Call Center.

A total of 3,72,270 people received government legal consultancy services by this time.

Legal Aid Offices gave legal support for a total of 3,65,225 cases. Among them, a total of 1,83,055 cases were settled by its initiatives.

A total of 94,724 cases have been settled since 2009 to August 2023 through ADR process, whereas initiatives were taken for 1,06,060 cases.

A total of 1,76,614 people became beneficiary through ADR process till August this year.

Total 17,328 people received the services through hotline before setting national helpline call center.

A total of Tk 153.99 crore was realized as compensation through the legal aid services in last 14 years, also read the statistics.

According to the NLASO report, a total of 1,10,181 prisoners have received government legal aid services since 2009 to August 2023.
