DIIT launches campus project

The Daffodil Institute of IT (DIIT) has embarked on a major expansion of its educational infrastructure with the foundation stone laying of its permanent campus at Green Model Town, Manda, in the capital, a move aimed at enhancing academic facilities and supporting skills-oriented higher education.

The ceremony, held on 20 June 2026, marks a significant milestone in the institution’s development and reflects its long-term vision of providing a modern learning environment for future generations.

Professor Dr. ASM Amanullah, Vice Chancellor of the National University, Bangladesh, laid the foundation stone as the chief guest.

The event was chaired by Dr. Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of Daffodil International University and Daffodil Group, Bangladesh.

Among those present were Professor Dr. Md. Al Amin, Chairman of the Governing Body of DIIT; Dr. Md. Nuruzzaman, Chief Executive Officer of Daffodil Group; Professor Dr. Md. Mostafa Kamal, Adviser to DIIT; and Prof. Dr. Md. Sakhawat Hossain, Principal of DIIT. Academicians, alumni, students, distinguished guests and well-wishers also attended the programme.

Addressing the event, Professor Dr. ASM Amanullah said the National University has prioritised skill-based and employment-oriented education as part of its efforts to address unemployment and meet global workforce demands.

He noted that the government has undertaken an initiative to produce 200,000 skilled graduates annually. As part of that effort, the university has launched a programme to train 50,000 women every year as technically skilled freelancers.

The Vice Chancellor said the United Arab Emirates alone requires 25,000 skilled hospitality management graduates annually, presenting a substantial employment opportunity. He added that institutions affiliated with the National University could play an important role in meeting such international demand.

Highlighting DIIT’s contribution, he said institutions such as the Daffodil Institute of IT have played a significant role in producing skilled graduates and are expected to continue doing so in the future. He also assured continued support from the National University.

In his presidential address, Dr. Md. Sabur Khan said the country must continue working towards the objective for which the late Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia established the National University. He said the university has helped extend higher education opportunities to the grassroots level.

Dr. Khan further emphasised that enhancing students’ skill matrices is essential for enabling them to compete effectively in both domestic and international job markets.

According to DIIT, the permanent campus will usher in a new phase in its pursuit of academic excellence, innovation and industry-oriented education. The facility is expected to feature modern infrastructure and create an enriched environment for teaching, learning, research and student development.

The institute said it remains committed to producing competent graduates and contributing to the advancement of education and national development in Bangladesh.
