If AL govt not resigns, decision will be taken on the street: BNP
Staff Reporter :
The main opposition party-BNP on Sunday warned that if the Awami League government is not resign to pave the way of forming a neutral election time government, the decision of the people will be made on the street.
“The AL government will not hand over power by conducting peaceful election.
Those who are thinking that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s government will hand over power by holding an inclusive election are living in a heaven of foolish.
So, the decision will be made in the street,” BNP Standing Committee Member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury said, while addressing a seminar in the capital.
He said a national government will be formed because it will be necessary to take back the nearly ruined country.
Amir Khasru said also that the Election Commission was working as a tool of the ruling Awami League.
“This Election Commission is working as a tool of the Awami League. So, there is no reason to expect anything from this EC,” he said.
The National Democratic Movement, an opposition political party, organised the seminar on the necessity of a party-neutral election-time government for an acceptable election at the Dhaka Reporters’ Unity.
“The Election Commission is a tool of the fascist government.
Their job is to figure out how to steal the next election and put Sheikh Hasina back in power.
That’s his (chief election commissioner) job,” the BNP leader said.
He said that the government should be removed in order to overcome this situation.
“The only one way to get relief from this regime is to remove this government. To get respite from this regime, stay united.
It is not a party’s struggle. It is a struggle for the liberation of 18 crore people of the country,’ the BNP leader said.
“Democracy must be established in the country by this second liberation war,” he said.
“After falling of this government, a different political system would begin in the country,” Khasru said.
“For this we (BNP) have given a 31-point proposal for democratic reform in Bangladesh, to take the country towards that politics.
That is why Bangladesh needs to be built differently through transformative changes,” he said.
NDM Chairman Bobby Hajjaj, its acting Secretary General Mominul Amin, BNP Joint-Secretary General Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal, and Aamar Bangladesh Party Member Secretary Mujibur Rahman Monju spoke, among others, at the event.
