Vessel operation on St Martin route suspended
City Desk :
Approximately 1,500 tourists on Saturday found themselves stranded on Saint Martin Island as the Teknaf administration suspended vessel movement on the Teknaf-Saint Martin route due to adverse weather conditions.
The administration took this decision as the sea remains rough in hostile weather, reports media.
Teknaf Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mohammad Adnan Chowdhury said: “Due to the hostile weather, no tourist ship from Teknaf was allowed to go to Saint Martin to avoid accidents.”
Besides, the movement of any kind of speedboat and wooden trawlers has been restricted.
As a result, more than 1,500 tourists who were visiting the island got stranded.
