Six fall ill in Lalbagh factory fire

A massive fire that broke out at plastic shop at Madina Market in Lalbagh area of Old Dhaka on Monday afternoon has been brought under control after three hours.
Nine firefighting units brought the blaze under control around 3:30 pm which originated around 1.15pm at the market, said Fire Service and Civil Defence media wing inspector Anwarul Islam. But no casualties were reported in this connection.
Fire Service and Civil Defence sources said the fire originated at about 1.15pm at the market.
Meanwhile, six persons including five of a family fell ill after inhaling smoke from the fire.
They were rushed to Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.
The injured are: Jakir Hossain, 65, his wife Taslima Hossain, 62, their son Md Rafi, 39, daughter-in-law Tahsin Karim Anika, 30, grandchild Zyna Hossain Afrin, 13, and housemaid Maksuda Begum, 60.
