DSE turnover dips to 10-day low

Business Report :
The country’s premier bourse the Dhaka Stock Exchange’s (DSE) daily turnover slipped to a 10-day low as investors’ participation decreased for fear of economic uncertainty owing to the market momentum stemming from various macroeconomic and political concerns, notably the restrictions on US visas of Bangladeshi individuals.

On Monday, the Dhaka bourse turnover fell by 12% to Tk441.27 crore over the previous session.

It is also the lowest since 11 September.

The key index DSEX of the Dhaka bourse slightly increased to close at 6,282.

But the blue-chip index DS30 lost 1.54 points to settle at 2,135 on the day.

The port city bourse Chittagong Stock Exchange all share price index CASPI fell by 15 points to 18,580.

Issues like slower remittance inflow and resurging political uncertainties following the US visa restriction on undisclosed Bangladeshi individuals caused stock investors unnerved after a decent recovery of the indices over the last month.

At the end of the Monday session, 82 scrips advanced, where 62 declined and 156 remained unchanged.

Union Insurance was the top traded shares on Monday.

Its 37.77 lakh shares were traded at Tk28.66 crore.

The other top-traded shares were BDCom Online, Fu Wang Food and Khan Brothers PP Woven.

Khan Brothers secured the top position on the gainer table, Legacy Footwear had the worst shares.
