Tigers trail by 73 runs
Cricket Australia XI started the second day of the warm-up match with 51 runs for 2 wickets.
Chasing Bangladesh’s 263 runs in the first innings, the hosts scored 355 runs in their first innings on Friday.
Then, Bangladesh, who came out to bat in the second innings, ended the day’s play by making 19 runs for the loss of 2 wickets.
The Tigers were trailled by 73 runs from Cricket Australia XI at the end of the second day at the DXC Arena in Darwin.
This three-day warm-up match is the preparation stage for Bangladesh ahead of the two-Test series against Australia.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz scored a century on the first day (Thursday), but the rest of the batters were disappointed. Most of the bowlers could not do well on Friday either.
However, the most successful of them was Hasan Mahmud. The pacer, who took one wicket on the first day, took three more wickets yesterday. Hasan took 4 wickets for 42 runs with five maidens in 19 overs.
Taskin Ahmed, who took one of Cricket Australia XI’s two wickets on Thursday, took a total of 2 wickets for 56 runs with four maidens in 15 overs. Mehidy Hasan Miraz also took two wickets.
However, the remaining three pacers of Bangladesh disappointed quite a bit. Khaled Ahmed and Ebadot Hossain were also quite expensive, although they got one wicket each.
Khaled Ahmed, who bowled 12.2 overs, gave away 4.41 runs per over and Ebadot Hossain, who bowled 13 overs, gave away 5.08 runs per over.
Another pacer, Mushfik Hasan, who is waiting for his Test debut, is in a worse condition. He gave away 38 runs in 4 overs without getting a wicket.
Taijul Islam got injury in his finger while batting in the first innings. The left-arm spinner, who was under observation, did not bowl on Friday. Mushfk Hasan bowled in his place.
Teague Wyllie, who scored a century for Cricket Australia XI. He notched up 130 runs off 177 balls with 16 fours. Jake Doran and Kurtis Patterson scored a half-century each.
Bangladesh batted 5 overs in their second innings on Friday. In the meantime, they lost the wickets of Shadman Islam and Mominul Haque. Shadman, who had made 6 runs, was caught by Hanno Jacobs off Campbell Thompson.
The day’s play ended when Mominul Haque (6) was bowled out by Campbell Thompson in the next over. Opener Tanzid Hasan reamined unbeaten with seven runs.
