ADC Harun suspended over assaulting BCL leaders

The government has suspended the additional deputy commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s (DMP) Ramna Zone, Harun-Ar-Rashid temporarily, on charges of torturing two central leaders of Bangladesh Chattra League (BCL) inside Shahbagh police station.
The police-1 branch of the public security division of the home ministry issued a gazette notification in this regard on Monday.
According to the notification, ADC Harun-ar-Rashid has been suspended following 39 (1) section of Government Service Law, 2018.
The notification said the ADC has to be refrained from all government activities for public interest.
According to the home ministry sources, the ADC was first transferred to the public order management (POM) department on Sunday from the Ramna division following an allegation of torturing few central leaders of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL).
The Police Headquarters also transferred him to the Armed Police Battalions with attachment order.
Meanwhile, in this regard, DMP Joint Commissioner (Operations) Biplab Kumar Sarkar said; police will not bear the responsibility of individuals.
He said this while talking to reporters at the DMP headquarters on Monday afternoon.
