Workshop on fire safety of inland waterways held

A day-long workshop on fire safety of inland waterways and ships was held in the city
The workshop was held at the Sundarban-16 launch at Dhaka Sadarghat.

It was inaugurated recently by Director General of Department of Shipping Commodore Mohammad Maksud Alam.

“If a boat catches fire, the amount of damage is very high as most of the merchant ship’s equipment are imported from abroad which is very expensive,” said Director General M Maksud Alam, reports UNB.

He also said that if the ship operators are informed about the fire safety of the ship, it is possible to reduce the amount of damage very easily.
