Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Director Khaled Mahmud Sujon believes it’s still not over for veteran Mahmudullah Riyad in the national colours.
Mahmudullah was not selected for the 17-member squad for the upcoming Asia Cup.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) selectors have put their trust in youngster Afif Hossain, ending various speculations for the No. 7 position.
Around the upcoming Asia Cup and World Cup, the BCB was pondering over the right candidate for the number 7 position.
Soumya Sarkar, Afif Hossain and Mosaddek Hossain were in discussion with Mahmudullah Riyad.
“I wouldn’t say that I see the end of him.
Riyad is a good fighter.
I don’t think there’s anything to break down due to the team combination or whatever the reason is,” Sujon told the media.
“It is true that Riyad is also getting old.
I still believe it’s unfair to say it’s over for him.
Opportunity may come again.
Riyad is still a BCB-contracted cricketer.
So I think Riyad will still keep that sportsman spirit,” said Sujon.
BCB director opined that it’s too early to predict the end of Mahmudullah despite the all-rounder deciding to hang his boots on his career.
