Police FC suffer defeat in AFC Challenge League
Bangladesh Police Football Club suffered a 1-0 defeat to Syrian strong club Al-Ittihad Ahli in the preliminary round of AFC Challenge League qualification held on Tuesday night at King Abdullah Stadium in Amman, Jordan.
The match was also Police FC’s first international outing, making their continental debut, while Al-Ittihad Ahli brought greater experience to the contest as seven-time champions of Syria.
Police FC fought hard but ultimately paid the price for their lack of experience against the seasoned Syrian side.
Fortis and Police FC earned places in the AFC Challenge League as the third-and fourth-placed teams in the Bangladesh Football League after champions Bashundhara Kings and runners-up Abahani were barred from the competition due to FIFA sanctions.
Earlier, on the same day, Fortis Football Club marked their first appearance in international football with a 1-0 victory over Kyrgyzstan’s Muras United held at Kings Arena in Dhaka.
