Expatriates focuses to secure all seats of Sylhet

The political heat is increasing as the date of the next 12th national election approaches. In the meantime, there is no stopping the running of parliamentary aspirants.

For this purpose, they are also campaigning extensively in the constituencies.

Especially in all the constituencies of Sylhet district there will be an excess of expatriates this time – this is being observed.

The two potential candidates of Awami League and BNP in Sylhet-1 (Sadar) seat are currently in a strong position in the country’s politics, but they were expatriates at one time.

AK Abdul Momen was once in exile for a long time. So far, it seems that if there is no dramatic change, he will be the candidate of Awami League in the next election.

On the other hand, it is heard that Khandaker Abdul Muktadir, the adviser to the party chairperson who contested in the last election from BNP, will contest in the next election. Khandkar Muktadir also spent a long time in exile.

However, after getting involved in the country’s politics, he rarely went abroad.

Apart from these two, Mahbubur Rahman Chowdhury, who is seeking nomination from the Jatiya Party in this seat, is also an American expatriate.

Sylhet-2 (Bishwanath-Osmani Nagar) MPs since the disappearance of Ilyas Ali are expatriates.

UK resident Shafiqur Rahman Chowdhury became MP from this seat.

Then Jatiya Party’s Yahya Chowdhury and later Mokabbir Khan became MPs.

They are both expatriates. They are likely to be candidates in the next election as well.

Present MP of Sylhet-3 (Dakshin Surma-Fenchuganj-Balaganj) Parliamentary Constituency Habibur Rahman is a UK resident. Awami League’s candidate for this seat, ASM Misbah, is also an expatriate.

Barrister Abdus Salam, who is seeking nomination from BNP, is a UK resident. Jatiya Party nominee Atiqur Rahman Atiq also has expatriate connections.

Besides, some other expatriates are expecting nomination from this seat.

Among them former Deputy Attorney General Advocate Abdur Rakib Montu wants nomination of Awami League. He is also an American expatriate.
