Tariquzzaman made new MD of DSE

The Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) has approved the selection of its Executive Director ATM Tariquzzaman as the managing director of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) for three years.

A commission meeting presided over by BSEC Chairman Prof Shibli Rubayat-Ul-Islam made the approval on Tuesday.

The top executive position at the DSE fell vacant in September last year following the resignation of the former managing director, Tarique Amin Bhuiyan.

Out of 23 candidates, the country’s prime bourse selected three candidates for the post of managing director.

The DSE’s board of directors approved this shortlist on Monday and sent it to the securities regulator for appointment.

The three primarily selected candidates were BSEC Executive Director ATM Tariquzzaman, former Mercantile Bank managing director Kazi Mashiur Rahman, and National Finance Ltd Managing Director Saifuddin M Naser.
