Woman’s half-decomposed body recovered

Police recovered the half-decomposed body of an unidentified woman, aged around 38, from an abandoned pond in Bagerhat on Thursday night.

The body was recovered from Jafar Pond in Bekhandanaga village under Bagerhat Sadar Upazila at around on Saturday.

The woman was wearing a pajama and a yellowish maxi dress.

Md Shamsul Arefin, officer-in-charge (OC) of Bagerhat Sadar Model Police Station, said police recovered the body after receiving information from local residents.

The woman was estimated to be 38 to 39 years old.

The body was sent to Bagerhat 250-bed Sadar Hospital for autopsy. Police have also sent radio messages to all police stations in the district to help identify the woman.

The OC said it was not immediately possible to determine whether the woman had sustained any injuries as the body was already decomposed.
