Order to remove sand pile from Hardinge Bridge area

The Pakshi Divisional Railway Authority was shaken after the news. It has been informed by miking throughout the Pakshi Union that if the sand is not removed by July 30, the sand will be sold through auction. Leaders of local political parties have been running rampant sand business for two centuries without VAT-tax by leasing railway land for nominal Rs. Hardinge Bridge and Lalon Shah Bridge are covered in huge piles of sand. The Hardinge Bridge and Lalon Shah Bridge are under threat due to the destruction of various parts of the guide bank (bridge protection embankment) by the movement of sand transport drum trucks, tractors. Railway officials are accused of abetting sand trade on railway land. Locals say that the railway officials have given sand business opportunities by leasing it as agricultural land for a nominal sum of Price. After the news came out, under pressure from the citations, the divisional railway authority set a deadline to remove the pile of sand next to the Hardinge Bridge.
According to the KPIA report, there is no visitor register, no CCTV cameras, barbed wire fences on both sides of the bridge and no armed patrols in the area of Pakshi Hardinge Bridge and Lalon Shah Bridge. Sand mining, dredging, fishing, boating are completely prohibited within five kilometers of the bridge. At the same time, there are instructions to install barbed wire fencing on the approach under Hardinge Bridge and within two kilometers of the main bridge. However, some people have leased the railway land adjacent to Hardinge Bridge for agricultural purposes and are carrying on the business of illegal commercial dumping of huge sand piles.
On Thursday, sand piles spread across a large area of the guidebank on the banks of the Padma near Hardinge Bridge and Lalon Shah Bridge. On an average, about 1,000 trucks of sand are sold every day. In terms of money, sand worth 20 to 30 lakh taka is sold here every day. These sand piles are charged per truck and per foot of sand.
Locals complain that Pakshi Union Awami League vice-president and former UP chairman Enamul Haque Biswas has been controlling the sand business since the beginning. After the change of power, many other members of the party got involved in this business. Railway authorities and Lakshikunda naval police do not even see this. After news of sand trading on railway land came to light, Hardinge directed the sand traders to remove the sand as per the instructions of KPI to strengthen the security of the bridge.
Enamul Haque Biswas denied being involved in sand business and said, I used to trade sand once. I don’t do it anymore. I don’t have a pile of sand. Those who trade sand here have leased the land from the railway. Traders need to be given time to remove the pile of sand. Sand cannot be removed by July 30.
Sand trader and Jubo League leader Masud Rana Masum said, I have heard that miking has been done to remove sand. It is not possible to remove the sand in such a short time. There are billions of CFT sand. It will take approximately six months to remove them. Railway officials said that no more sand should be piled under the Hardinge Bridge and the piles of sand should be removed.
Pakshi Railway Divisional Engineer (DEN-2) Birbal Mandal said that the guide bank has suffered a lot due to the sand trade. Balu mahal or sand pile has been ordered to be removed for the safety of Hardinge Bridge. After the sand pile is removed from here, the surrounding area will be fenced with barbed wire for the safety of the bridge.
Pakshi Railway Divisional Land Resources Officer Mohammad Nuruzzaman said that miking has been done to remove the pile of sand from the Hardinge Bridge area. Action will be taken as per law if the sand traders are not removed from here within the stipulated time.
