Nat’l Fisheries Week begins

The National Fisheries Week was begins in the Divisional City of Rangpur with rally, release of fish fry, award distribution and discussion meeting.
Organized by the Rangpur District Administration and Fisheries Department on Tuesday a rally was brought out from the District Administration Office circled the city’s main road and ended at the town hall ground. Later, Rangpur Divisional Commissioner Habibur Rahman was the Chief Guest in the discussion meeting under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Mobaswer Hasan at the Town Hall Auditorium.
District Superintendent of Police Ferdous Ali Chowdhury, Divisional Fisheries Deputy Director Saifuddin Ibrahim were special guests.
District Awazamirig Joint Secretary Majed Ali Bablu, District Fisheries Officer Badruzzaman Manik, fish farmer Abdul Aziz, Manorannan Das, Sudhir Chandra etc. spoke in it. Before this, fish fry are released in the pond. At the end, certificates and crests were given to the best fishermen of the district.

Baraigram (Natore) Correspondent says: The National Fisheries Week was inaugurated in Baraigram Upazila of Natore on Tuesday.
On this occasion, a colorful rally, release of fish fry in the pond and a discussion meeting were organized by the Upazila Administration and the Upazila Fisheries Department. UNO (Acting) Md. Borhan Uddin Mithu presided over and Upazila Women Affairs Officer Md. Habiba Khatun moderated the discussion meeting at the Upazila Auditorium.
Upazila Chairman Alhaj Dr Md Siddiqur Rahman Patwari was the chief guest at the meeting, Upazila Awami League President Abdul Quddus Miyaji was the special guest. Besides, Senior Upazila Fisheries Officer Md. Abdul Halim, Secondary Education Officer Abdur Rauf and others spoke there.
The meeting was attended by the officials of various departments of the administration along with fishermen of the area.
Feni Correspondent reports: As part of the central programme of the National Fisheries Week various programmes have been organized in Sonagazi Upazila, keeping in mind the theme of ‘Safe fish-rich country, build smart Bangladesh’.
The various programnmes including a rally organized by the Upazila Administration and Fisheries Department, a documentary show marking the success of the fisheries sector, release of fish fry and a discussion meeting and award distribution ceremony were held on Tuesday.
Lt. Gen. (retd) Masud Uddin Chowdhury MP from Feni-3 Constituency Member of Parliament was the as the Chief Guest at the discussion meeting
The programme presided by UNO Kamrul Hasan, under the supervision of Upazila Fisheries Officer Turya Saha special guests were Mayor and Upazila Awami League Secret Advocate Rafiqul Islam Khokon, Upazila Awami League President Professor Mofizul Haque, Upazila Parishad Vice Chairman Sakhawatul Haque Bitu, Upazila Jatiya Party President Haji Abu Sufian, Upazila Agriculture Officer Main Uddin, Sadar Union Parishad Chairman Umme Ruma and upazila fishermen were present.
At this time, four successful and entrepreneurs in fish farming at local level were awarded.
BSS from Khulna adds : Khulna Divisional Commissioner Md Helal Mahmud Sharif said Monday that extensive development has been achieved in the fisheries sector like other sectors under the present government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
“Fisheries sector represents as one of the most productive and dynamic sectors in the country which plays a significant role in food security, employment, and foreign exchange earnings in the country’s economy,” he made the remarks as the chief guest in a discussion meeting marking the Fisheries week-2023 here.
Khulna district administration and Department of District Fisheries organised the meeting held at the Khulna Deputy Commissioner’s conference room with Deputy Commissioner Khondokar Yasir Arefin in the chair.
This year, the theme of the event is “Nirapad Machhea Varbo Desh, Gorbo Smart Bangladesh (The country will be filled with safe fish, Build the Smart Bangladesh)”. The Fisheries week will end on July 30.

“There is no alternative to protect varieties of local fish species side by side foreign fish farming,” said the chief guest.
He said farmers are getting huge success through the farming of ‘vannamei’ shrimp, a white leg shrimp, side by side tiger (Bagda), lobstar (Galda) and other species of shrimp cultivation.
“Fish production should be increased by using open water bodies in a scientific manner,” he said, adding that fish traders must refrain from
mixing harmful chemicals.
Deputy Director of Khulna divisional Fisheries Department Md Zahangir Alam, Deputy Police Commissioner of KMP Md Tazul Islam and Additional Superintendent of District Police Tanvir Ahmed addressed the meeting as special guests while District Fisheries Officer Joydev Pal delivered the welcome speech.
Later, the Divisional Commissioner distributed crests among the best fish farmers, entrepreneurs, owners of different fish trading organisations, exporters and researchers of Khulna University (KU).
Earlier, Helal Mahmud Sharif released fish fries in city’s Shaheed Hadis Park’s pond and attended a rally as the chief guest.
