BD U-19 Cricket team win one-dayer series over SA U-19

Bangladesh Under-19 Cricket team won the five-match one-dayer series 3-2 over South Africa (SA) Under-19 Cricket team after beating the touring side by three wickets in their fifth one-dayer match at the Shaheed AHM Kamaruzzaman Stadium in Rajshahi on Monday.
Sent into bat first, South Africa scored 210 off 49.4 overs.
In return, Bangladesh sailed home making 211 for the loss of seven wickets when they had 17 balls to spare.
Bangladesh had an auspicious start as openers Adil Bin Siddik and Chowdhury Md Rizwan contributed together 40 runs in the opening stand before Chowdhury Md Rizwan (13) was dismissed by Liam Alder.
One-down Rizan Hossan (3) was dismissed by Alder when Bangladesh’s score was 48 for the loss of two wickets.
Adil and Ariful Islam rescued their team from danger putting together 87 runs in the third wicket stand before Adil was caught behind by wicketkeeper Bennie Hansen off Juan James when the hosts’ total was 135 for the loss of three wickets.
Ariful notched up a terrific 71. His 82-ball innings was laced with five fours and a sixer. Ariful was adjudged the Man of the Match.
Adil hit a marvelous 58. His 70-ball innings was belted with seven fours and a sixer.
Third-down Nayeem Ahmed (4) was caught by Romashan Pillay off James when Bangladesh’s score was 150 for the loss of four wickets.
Fourth-down Mohammad Shihab (17) was dismissed by Alder when the home side’s total was 179 for the loss of five wickets.
Ashrafur Jaman ( 3) was trapped leg before wicket by Alder when the Young Tigers’ total was 183 for the loss of six wickets.
Ariful Islam was dismissed by James when Bangladesh’s total was 189 for the loss of seven wickets.
Mahfuzur Rahman and Rafi helped their team to reach the winning spot. Mahfuzur Rahman remained unbeaten with 15 runs.
Alder captured four wickets at the cost of 25 runs, while James got three wickets for 30 runs.
South Africa lost their early two wickets for 18 runs.
One-down David Teeger and second-down Jonathan van Zyl mended their innings scoring together 31 runs for the third-wicket partnership before Jonathan (7) was dismissed by Rafi Uzzaman Rafi when South Africa’s total was 49 for the loss of three wickets.
Teeger hit a superb 63. His 89-ball innings had three fours.
After Jonathan’s dismissal, Teeger and Richard Seletswane built the most valuable partnership. They put on together 52 runs in the four-wicket stand before Richard (27) was dismissed by Ariful when the tourists’ score was 101 for the loss of four wickets.
After Richard’s departure, Teeger and James added together 44 runs for the fifth wicket partnership before Teeger was dismissed by Rohanat Doullah when South Africa’s total was 145 for the loss of five wickets.
James (32) was dismissed by Rafi when the visitors’ score was 153 for the loss of six wickets.
After James’ departure, South African batters failed to make any notable partnership.
Mahfuzur Rahman grabbed three wickets in the space of 43 runs, while Rizan Hossan, Rafi Uzzaman Rafi, Rohanat Doullah bagged a pair of wickets each giving 15, 39 and 53 runs respectively.
Besides, Ariful Islam took one wicket for 18 runs.
