Auspicious start for BD Women defeating India in 1st ODI

Bangladesh Women’s Cricket team made an auspicious start in the three-match ODI series defeating India Women’s Cricket team by 40 runs (according to Duckworth-Lewis-Stern Method) in the first ODI at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the city’s Mirpur on Sunday. It is a historic victory for Bangladesh Women as they beat India Women in an ODI for the first time.
Sent into bat first, Bangladesh Women piled up a fighting total of 152 in 43 overs (six overs were curtailed due to rain).
In reply, India Women were all out for 113 off 35.5 overs. India had a revised target of 154 runs to win in 44 overs.
Bangladesh lost their early two wickets for 14 runs.

One-down Fargana Haque and second-down Nigar Sultana repaired the early damage contributing together 49 runs for the third wicket partnership before Fargana Haque was caught behind by wicketkeeper Yastika Bhatia off Amanjot Kaur when Bangladesh’s sore was 63 for the loss of three wickets.
Fargana Haque made 27 from 45 deliveries including five fours.

Nigar Sultana hit a Captain’s knock of 39. Her 64-ball innings had three fours.
After Fargana Haque’s dismissal, Bangladesh batters failed to build any notable partnership.
Number-Nine batter Sultana Khatun, opener Murshida Khatun, six-down Fahima Khatun and fourth-down Rabeya Khan added 16, 13, 12 (not out) and 10 runs to the Bangladesh total.
Amanjot Kaur captured four wickets at the cost of 31 runs, Devika Vaidya bagged a pair of wickets instead of 36 runs and Deepti Sharma took one wicket for 26 runs.
Later, India faced a debacle as they lost their five wickets for 61 runs.

Fourth-down Deepti Sharma and fifth-down Amanjot Kaur mended their innings adding together 30 runs in the six-wicket stand before Amanjot Kaur was caught behind by wicketkeeper Nigar Sultana off Marufa Akter when India’s total was 91 for the loss of six wickets.

Fifth-down Sneh Rana (0) was bowled out by Marufa Akter when the tourists’ total was 91 for the loss of seven wickets.
Deepti Sharma was dismissed by Rabeya Khan when the visitors’ score was 91 for the loss of eight wickets.
Deppti Sharma knocked a painstaking 20 using 40 deliveries.

Number-10 batter Pooja Vastrakar (7) was caught behind by wicketkeeper Nigar Sultana off Sultana Khatun when India’s total was 102 for the loss of nine wickets.
Ninth-down Bareddy Anusha (2) was run out by Sultana Khatun when India’s innings came to an end.
Yastika Bhatia and Amanjot Kaur added 15 runs each to the Bangladesh total.

Marufa Akter and Rabeya Khan played the key role in demolishing the touring side’s innings. Marufa Akter claimed four wickets in the space of 29 runs, while Rabeya Khan grabbed three wickets giving 30 runs. Marufa Akter was adjudged the Player of the Match.
Besides, Nihida Akter and Sultana Khtun took one wicket each for 16 and 20 runs respectively.
