Prof. Dr. Emdadul new VC of BAU

Renowned veterinarian, Prof. Dr. Emdadul Haque Chowdhury has appointed Vice-Chancellor of Bangladesh Agricultural University(BAU)
Din Mohammed Dinu, Bangladesh Agricultural University (Mymensingh) had informed that Internationally renowned veterinarian, distinguished educationist, Prof. Dr. Emdadul Haque Chowdhury has been appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of Bangladesh Agricultural University for the next 4 (four) years on Wednesday.
Prof. Dr. Emdadul Haque Chowdhury, a graduate of Bangladesh Agricultural University is the 25th Vice-Chancellor of the University. He has been working as a teacher in the Department of Pathology in the Faculty of Veterinary Science of this University.
Prof Dr. Emdadul Haque Chowdhury was born in a noble Muslim family in Sadarpur thana of Faridpur district.
He passed Doctor of Veterinary Medicine under the Faculty of Veterinary Science, BAU acquiring 1st class 2nd. He did Master of Science degree in Pathology from BAU acquiring 1st class First. Later, in 1999, he obtained a PhD degree with honors from the University of Zurich in Switzerland and completed a post-doctoral fellowship from Japan in 2001-2002.
Prof Dr. Emdadul had joined the Pathology Department of Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh in 1995 as a lecturer. He has been working as a professor in the department since 2008. He had attended many national and international seminars, symposiums, workshops and conferences and presented research papers and served as chairperson in various technical sessions. He has traveled to many countries of the world for research and educational work.
Also, the total number of his research articles published in national or international journals of high index is more than 15. Under his supervision, 70 M.S. students and 20 PhD students completed their degrees.
His Total Research Gate Citations: 1680, h-Index: 23, Google Citations: 1980 , h-index 22 (as of 01 March 2023). He has also successfully conducted various domestic and foreign research projects.
Professor with a distinguished career, Emdadul Haque Chowdhury has worked with reputation and competence as Director of Planning and Development Wing, Head of Department of Pathology, Convener of Provost Council, Chairman of Security Council, Coordinator of Interdisciplinary Institute of Food Safety, Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh. Currently working as Syndicate Member of Chattogram Veterinary and Animal Sciences University and Ishakha International University. In recognition of his contribution to the research, Professor Dr. Emdadul Haque Chowdhury received Best Young Presentation Award 1999 by Bangladesh Society for Veterinary Education and Research, best Poster Award 2013 by Center for Action Research (CARES), Dhaka Bangladesh . He also received best publication award 2014 from Bangladesh Agricultural University Teachers Association; BAU Global Research Impact Award 2019 and 2022 as top 5 h-indexed researcher of BAU. Professor Chowdhury scored 100% proficiency in molecular diagnosis of goat viral diseases by Joint division of FAO/IAEA, Vienna, Austria. A dedicated life educator Professor Dr. Emdadul Haque Chowdhury involves in various social organizations. He has served as vice-president, treasurer, general secretary, organizational secretary, executive committee member of Bangladesh Agricultural University Awami Teachers Association Democratic Teachers Forum at various times. At present, he is serving as an advisor to the pro-Awami Democratic Teachers’ Forum of Bangladesh Agricultural University.
Also Professor Dr. Emdadul Haque Chowdhury has served as the elected member (2009) and general secretary (2010) of the Bangladesh Agricultural University Teachers Council supported by the Awami Teachers Panel and the elected vice president (2010-2011) of the Bangladesh Agricultural University Teachers Federation. He has been serving as the General Secretary of Bangabandhu Parishad, BAU branch since 2009. Since 2014, He is currently involved in the activities of various national and international professional and social organizations.
