BD thrashes Afghan in third ODI

Pacer Shoriful Islam and Captain Litton Das powered Bangladesh Cricket team to thrash Afghanistan Cricket team by seven wickets in their third One Day International (ODI) match at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram, the port city of the country on Tuesday.
Chasing Afghanistan’s paltry total of 126 off 45.2 overs, Bangladesh romped home making
129 for the loss of three wickets when they had 159 balls to spare.
Shoriful Islam captured four wickets in the space of 21 runs and played the key role in wrecking Afghanistan’s innings. Shoriful Islam was adjudged the Man of the Match for his outstanding bowling performance.
Litton Das remained unbeaten with 53 runs. His 60-ball innings was ornamented with three fours and two sixes. It is Litton’s tenth half-century in his ODI campaign
Azmatullah Omarzai is the only batter of Afghanistan, who could resist the terrific bowling attack of Bangladesh bowlers. Omarzai hit 56 using 71 deliveries hitting three sixes and one four. It is Omarzi’s maiden half-century in his ODI career.
Right-arm pacer Taskin Ahmed and left-arm spinner Taijul Islam bagged two wickets each instead of 23 and 33 runs respectively. Left-arm spinner Shakib Al Hasan and right-arm spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz took one wicket each for 13 and 35 runs respectively.
Bangladesh had a sorrow start as opener Mohammad Naim (0) was bowled out by Afghan pacer Fazalhaq Farooqi when Bangladesh’s score was just two runs.
One-down Najmul Hossain Shanto (11) was bowled out by Fazalhaq Farooqi when Bangladesh’s total was 28 for the loss of two wickets.
After Shanto’s departure, Litton Das and Shakib Al Hasan mended their innings scoring together 61 runs for the third wicket partnership before Shakib Al Hasan was caught at the midwicket by Hashmatullah Shahidi off Mohammad Nabi when Bangladesh’s score was 89 for the loss of three wickets.
Shakib Al Hasan hit a run-a-ball 39 with five shots through the ropes.
After Shakib dismissal, Litton Das and Towhid Hridoy guided their team to anchor the winning spot contributing together 40 runs in the unbroken fourth wicket stand. Towhid Hridoy remained unbeaten with 22 runs. He hit one four in his 19-ball innings. Fazalhaq Farooqi bagged two wickets giving 26 runs, while Mohammad Nabi took one wicket for seven runs.
It may be mentioned that though Bangladesh won yesterday’s victory, Afghanistan clinched the three-match ODI series 2-1.
