3 to die for killing businessman in Gopalganj

A court here Monday sentenced three people to death panelty in a case filed over killing Lutfar Molla, a businessman in Tungipara upazila of the district, in 2021.
Gopalganj Additional District and Sessions Judges Court Judge Maksudur Rahman pronounced the verdict Monday afternoon. The court also fined them Taka 5,000 each.The death convicts are – Mofizur Rahman alias Mofiz Howladar, 32, son of Shafiuddin Howladar of resident of Amtala village under Dacope upazila in Khulna district, Abdullah Sikdar, 19, son of Pannu Sikder, resident of Char Kushli village under Tungipara upazila of Gopalganj district and Sajedul Islam, 23, son of Montu Sikder of Kushli village under Tungipara upazila of Gopalganj district.
Elderly man killed

An elderly man was killed in a road accident on the Ghonapara-Patgati road in new market area under Tungipara upazila of the district Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Asad Sharif, 70, resident of Gimadanga Ghazalia village of Patgati union under Tungipara upazila.
The accident occurred as a Golden Line Transport bus from Dhaka hit him, while he crossing the road around 1:30pm, leaving him injured, inspector (investigation) of Tungipara Police Station, Zahirul Alam said. Locals rescued him and taken to Tungipara Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
