Bad Bunny, Sabrina Carpenter, Octavia Spencer win 1st Emmy

The Emmy Awards are one of the most prestigious awards in the
entertainment industry.

The first night of this year’s Creative Arts Emmys was a stage to make history! Three popular stars from the music and acting worlds – Bad Bunny, Sabrina Carpenter and Octavia Spencer took home the first Emmy trophies of their respective careers.

Puerto Rican music star Bad Bunny won an Emmy for Outstanding Live Variety Special for his magical ‘Super Bowl LX Halftime Show’.

He not only performed on the show, but also served as an executive producer.

This is only the second Super Bowl show in Emmy history to win the title of best programme.

Previously, Dr Dre and Snoop Dogg’s historic hip-hop show received the honour in 2022.

Not only that, but Bad Bunny’s show has won a record 7 Emmy trophies in one night! It also made history by becoming the first Spanish-language show to win in this category.

This new crown comes just seven months after Bad Bunny won its first Grammy for Album of the Year for a Spanish-language album.

On the other hand, the new crush of the music industry, Sabrina Carpenter, is not stopping her winning streak! After winning two Grammys for the song ‘Espresso’ last year, she now takes home her first Emmy trophy.

She received the Emmy for Best Variety Special in the pre-recorded category for Disney Plus’ popular ‘The Muppets Show’. Out of six nominations, the show alone has bagged four Emmys.

With this Emmy win, both Bad Bunny and Sabrina Carpenter are halfway to becoming ‘IGOTs’ (Oscar, Grammy, Emmy and Tony winners)! Now all they have to do is win an Oscar and a Tony Award.

But the biggest surprise of the night was Oscar-winning actress Octavia Spencer, who stunned everyone by winning an Emmy in the ‘Best Narrator’ category for her voice work on the true-crime series ‘Lost Women of Alaska’.

Spencer’s stunning win briefly put 100-year-old naturalist Sir David Attenborough on the verge of making history.
