Number of dengue patients increasing in Barishal, Kishoreganj, Khulna

The number of dengue patients is increasing at an alarming rate in 6 districts of Barishal division. But patients often referring to Dhaka due to lack of platelet from blood cell separating facilities in Barishal region.
However total 110 dengue patients have been admitted to various government hospitals of the division in the last 24 hours.
Meanwhile, two separate dengue corners for women and men have been launched to deal with the increased pressure of dengue patients, said Barishal Sher E Bangla Medical College Hospital (SBMCH) director Dr.Md. Saiful Islam
He said that two separate dengue corners for male and female patients have been opened under the new building of the hospital (Corona building).
The director also said that 80 male and female patients can receive treatment at the dengue corner. There are all kinds of arrangements for patients including mosquito nets, tests.
He said that there is no shortage of doctors and nurses in treating dengue patients.Dengue fever was observed among the people coming from Dhaka during Eid-ul-Azha, but now its effect is more visible among the common people of the area.
On Sunday (July 9) afternoon, the matter was confirmed by the Barishal Divisional Director of Health Dr. Humayun Shaheen Khan.
Among the admitted patients, 47 dengue patients were admitted in Barishal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital, 9 in Barishal General Hospital, 23 in Patuakhali Medical College Hospital, 10 in Pirojpur, 13 in Barguna and 8 in Bhola till Saturday night.
Dr. Humayun Shaheen Khan said, 196 patients are admitted in various government hospitals of the division till Saturday (July 8).
Among them 898 dengu patients were admitted in these hospitals from January 1 and out of them 701 people have recovered. Till this report one dengue patient died at Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital.
He also said that awareness is the main task to prevent dengue. If people are not aware, the number of dengue cases cannot be reduced. All government hospitals in the division have been directed to treat dengue patients with utmost care.
BSS from Khulna reports : Seven dengue patients were admitted to the Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH) in the city during last 24 hours till Sunday.
Some nine patients were released from the hospital during the period, Dr Suhash Ranjan Halder, residential medical officer (RMO) of the KMCH informed this. A total of 19 patients were admitted to the hospital till today, he said, adding that there has been any death till Saturday last.
While visiting the KMCH, this reporter found that the dengue patients are being taken treatment at different wards of the medicine department. Some patients were treated in bed and some on the floor.
Dr. Suhash said a separate ward will be opened if the number of dengue patients were increased. Besides, demand for platelet separator machines has been sent to the Directorate of Health.
When contacted, Dr Robiul Hossain, Director of KMCH told BSS that at least seven to eight dengue patients were admitted to the hospital and three to four patients were released every day.
Of the patients, at least 20 percent are in Khulna and remaining from outside of the district.
Over 1300 different types of patients are now admitted to the 500-bed KMCH, he said adding that separate wards will be opened for the dengue patients if the number of patients is being increased.
Staff Reporter from Kishoreganj adds: At least 28. patients have been admitted to different hospitals due to dengue in Kishoreganj in last two days on Saturday.
Among them, 14 people are admitted in Shahid Nazrul Islam Medical College Hospital i(SNIMCH) 4 in Kishoreganj 250 bed General Hospital and one in Bajitpur Upazila Health Complex.
According to Civil Surgeon’s Office, three patients were admitted with dengue in the last 24 hours and 23 people were discharged. However, no one died due to dengue in the district during this period. A total of 89 people have been infected with dengue in the district since January. At the same time, a total of 70 dengue patients have recovered.
The Civil Surgeon (CS) in Kishoreganj, Dr. Saiful Islam said that dengue patients are being treated with strict precautions in different hospitals of the district in accordance with hygiene rules. Although the affected patients are residents of the district, these patients have come to the district from the capital Dhaka and other places. So far no one has been affected by dengue at the local level
