Police have recovered the body of ruling Awami League (AL) district secretary for industry and commerceMd. Badal Rahman from a pond at Char Sholakia Beparibari in the town on Sunday morning.
Local ex-chamber president Badal Rahman (62), son of late Mokhlesur Rahman, was a resident of Kharamputti of Kishoreganj town.
Police and local sources said people saw the body floating in the pond in the morning and informed the police about the matter.
Accordingly a team of police came and recovered the body and sent it to Kishoreganj 250-bed General Hospital for autopsy. Deputy Commissioner of Kishoreganj
Md. Abdul Kamal Azad, Police Super Mohammad Rasel Sheikh, Zila Parishad Chairman Advocate Zillur Rahman, Mayor Pervez Miah and District Awami League General Secretary Advocate M A Afzal visited the spot.
Badal Rahman’s elder brother Ataur Rahman Milon said that after eight o’clock on Saturday nightBadal left home for a walk and did not return. His body was found floating in the pond on Sunday morning. Ataur Rahman Milon claimed that his younger brother was killed and the body was thrown into the pond.
When contact, Police Super (SP) Mohammad Russell Sheikh confirmed the incident and said as soon as the news was received, the police went and recovered the body and sent it to the morgue of the 250-bed General Hospital of Kishoreganj for autopsy.
He said efforts will be made to unravel the mystery behind the death soon. The police are active to unveil the reasons behind his death by collecting CCTV camera footage from the area and using technology.
Badal Rahman left behind his wife, two sons and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death.
His Namaz-e-Janaza held at local Shahidi Mosque after Magrib prayers.
Former President Md. Abdul Hamid and Rejowana Ahamed Tofique MP, Dr. Syeda Zakia Noor Lipi MP and Prime Minister’s (PM) special assistant Moshiur Rahman Humayon also expressed deep shock at the death of Md. Badal Rahman.
