BUET orientation prog 2025–26 held

Education Minister Dr. A N M Ehsanul Hoque Milon speaks at the Orientation program of the newly admitted students of the 2025-2026 academic year at BUET on Saturday. The Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) held its Fresher’s Orientation Program for newly admitted Level-1/Term-1 undergraduate students of the 2025–2026 academic years at the BUET Central Auditorium on Saturday.

The program was attended by the Minister of Education and Primary & Mass Education, Dr. A N M Ehsanul Hoque Milon, as the Chief Guest, while adviser to the Prime Minister on Education, Primary and Mass Education, Mahdi Amin, joined as the Special Guest.

BUET Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Eqramul Hoque presided over the event, and Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Abdul Hasib Chowdhury also attended as a Special Guest.

In his speech, Dr. Milon congratulated the newly admitted students for securing the opportunity to study at BUET.

He noted that the government is working to transform the country’s educated population into skilled human resources, adding that students will play a vital role in national development and should contribute collectively to the country’s progress.

Mahdi Amin said the government’s key objective is to build an education system that produces skilled, career-oriented, and responsible citizens.

He emphasized the need to integrate knowledge with practical skills so that students are better prepared for real-life challenges.

Addressing the new students, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Eqramul Hoque reminded them that gaining admission to BUET required intense competition and discipline.

He urged them to make the best use of their time at the university, complete their studies within the stipulated period, and maintain BUET’s rules and discipline.

He also encouraged students to pursue higher studies abroad while remaining committed to their responsibility toward the country.

Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof. Abdul Hasib Chowdhury also spoke at the event, stating that admission to BUET brings social responsibility, as students now represent the institution and the nation, making it essential for them to act with accountability.

The program was moderated by BUET Registrar Prof. Dr. Nayeb Md. Golam Zakaria and organized by the Director of Student Welfare (DSW), Prof. Dr. A.K.M. Masud.

Deans of faculties, heads of departments, institute directors, hall provosts, teachers, students, and guardians were also present at the event.
