Afghanistan win ODI series 2-0 against BD

Afghanistan won the One Day International (ODI) series 2-0 after defeating Bangladesh by 142 runs in the second ODI at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on Saturday.
The hosts and the tourists will face each other in the third ODI at the same venue on July 11.
Sent into bat first, Afghanistan piled up a mammoth total of 331 for the loss of nine wickets in the stipulated 50 overs.
Later, Bangladesh were all out for 189 off 43.2 overs.
Afghanistan had a formidable start as two openers Rahmatullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran put on together 256 runs in the opening stand before Gurbaz was trapped leg before wicket by Shakib Al Hasan.
Gurbaz top-scored with 145 runs. His 125-ball innings was belted with eight sixes and 13 fours. It is Gurbaz’s fourth century in his ODI career.
After dismissal of Gurbaz, Afghanistan batters failed to build any notable partnership.
Ibrahim Zadran hit an exact 100. He hit nine fours and a sixer in his 119-ball innings.
It is Ibrahim’s fourth century in his ODI campaign. Ibrahim Zadran was caught at the midwicket by Najmul Hossain Shanto off Mustafizur Rahman when the visitors’ total was 299 for the loss of five wickets.
Mohammad Nabi remained unbeaten with 25 runs.
Shakib Al Hasan, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Mustafizur Rahman and Hasan Mahmud bagged a pair of wickets each instead of 50, 60, 60 and 70 runs respectively.
Besides, Ebadot Hossain took one wicket for 61 runs.
Mushfiqur Rahim is the only Bangladesh batter, who fought back against the superb bowling attack of Bangladesh. He scored 69 from 85 deliveries including six fours. It is Mushfiqur’s 45th half-century in his ODI career.
Bangladesh lost their early six wickets for 72 runs.
Then, Mushfiqur Rahim and Mehidy Hasan Miraz repaired the damage adding together 87 runs for the seventh wicket partnership before Miraz (25) was dismissed by Mujeeb Ur Rahman when Bangladesh’s score was 159 for the loss of seven wickets.
Hasan Mahmud arrived at the crease but he could not stay at the pitch for a long time as he (4) was trapped leg before wicket by Mujeeb Ur Rahman when Bangladesh’s total was 169 for the loss of eight wickets.
Ebadot Hossain was retired hurt. So, Bangladesh’s innings came to an end.
Fazalhaq Farooqi and Mujeeb Ur Rahman grabbed three wickets each giving 22 and 40 runs respectively.
Rashid Khan bagged two wickets for 28 runs.
