Two youths drowned in Karimganj

At least two youths died after drowning in Nurshandha River of Karimganj Baro Haor while attending a friend’s wedding in Karimganj upazila of Kishoreganj.
The incident took place on Tuesday afternoon when five friends went to take a bath at Gundhar area in Karimganj upazila.
The deceased are Rafu (24), son of Kamal Uddin, a resident of Tejgaon West Nakhalpara in Dhaka and Limon (25), son of Lal Mia of the area. Among them, Rafu is a student of Dhaka College and Limon is a computer engineer. According to family and local sources, Taukir, son of Sayem Uddin of Gundhar Bazaar area of Karimganj Upazila, got married last Monday . On this occasion, his five friends Rafu, Limon, Rafi, Junayed and Rocky came to Gundhar, Taukir’s village home, from Dhaka on the day before the wedding.
Taukeer’s marriage ceremony was on Tuesday. After breakfast, Tauqeer and his five friends Rafu, Limon, Rafi, Junaid and Rocky played football. Later, they went to take a bath with the football at Bara Haor south of Gundhar High School next to the house.
. At this time, three other friends swam and rescued the three friends Rafu, Limon and Taukir who had drowned in the water. But Limon died on the spot. Besides, Rafu and Taukir were quickly brought to Kishoreganj and Rafu was brought to Shaheed Syed Nazrul Islam Medical College Hospital. He later died while undergoing treatment. On the other hand, Taukir is being admitted to Kishoreganj 250 bed general hospital and is being treated in critical condition.
