Lightning strikes kill 6 in two districts

At list six people were killed and many others injured in separate lightning strikes in Chapainawabganj and Naogaon districts on Monday.
In Chapainawabganj, four people were killed in separate lightning strikes in three upazilas of Chapainawabganj yesterday.
The incidents took place in Sadar, Gomastapur and Bholahat upazilas.

Md Rawshan, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Sadar confirmed the matter to the media and said that a man died after being hit by thunderbolts when he was working in a field in Jamtala area.

The deceased was identified as Omar Ali, 50, a resident of Bholahat upazila, he added.
Another person died in lightning strikes when he was working in a field at Bararshia village under Islampur union in the

upazila. The deceased was identified as Abdur Rahman, 35, a resident of the village.
Gomastapur Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Md Abdul Hamid said thunderbolts struck a man at Prasadpur village in the upazila, leaving him seriously injured.

Later, the injured, Shariful Islam, 35, a resident of the village, was rushed to Gomastapur Upazila Health Complex where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
At Bholahat, a man passed away after being hit by thunderbolts when he was working in a field at Mushribhuja village.
The deceased Anwar Hossain, 60, was a resident of the village.

In Naogaon, two people were killed and another injured in separate incidents of lightning strikes in Porsha and Dhamoirhat upazilas of the district in the morning.
Zahurul Islam, officer-in-charge of Porsha Police Station, said Abdul Jabbar, 30, son of Nazrul Islam of Paschim Duarpal village, was killed and Mehedi Hasan was injured when a streak of thunderbolt struck them while catching fish in the Punarbhaba River around 6 am.
Mehedi was taken to a local hospital.

Meanwhile, Muminul Rahman, 22, son of Azizur Rahman of Moishar village in Dhamoirhat upazila, was killed by the lightning strike while working at a paddy field at noon, said Mozammel Haque, officer-in-charge of Dhamoirhat Police Station.
