Discontentment over non-nationalization of Bir Vikram Zainul Abedin High School

Bir Bikram Zainul Abedin High School in Lohagara, Chittagong was at number 10 serial in the list of 78 proposed nationalized schools founded in the name of Bangabandhu family and freedom fighters.Although 43 schools have been nationalized from the list, this school has yet been nationalized due to unknown reasons.Bir Bikram Zainul Abedin High School is located in Pantrisha Village, Ward No. 9, Chunti Union No. 8, Lohagara upazila, Chittagong.
The school was established in 2015 by Prime Minister’s former military secretary late Major General Mia Mohammad Zainul Abedin Bir Bikram (PSC). Since its establishment, the school has been playing a special role in the spread of education as a beacon of education in the surrounding area. Most of the school students are children of farmers and poor families. As the school has not been nationalized, it has become very difficult for the students to bear the education expenses. In addition, the residents, students and parents of the Major General Mia Mohammad Zainul Abedin Birvikram’s dream school was not nationalized.
A guardian Mohammad Abdul Hafez said that as the school is not nationalized we have to pay extra money. Most of the people in this area are dependent on agriculture due to which we have difficulty in paying this fee.According to the school, the current school has a total of 700 male and female students including 370 male and 330 female students.
Mohammad Javed, former student of the school, said that it was the dream of the secretary sir that Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina would announce the nationalization of the school in person. When Abedin Sir was there every year he used to distribute winter clothes to school students and Ramadan Eid gifts, educational materials to poor students. With his death, besides the poor people, the school also became guardianless.
