‘Public awareness vital to curb dengue’

Narayanganj Deputy Commissioner (DC) Rayhan Kabir has called for greater public awareness and collective action to prevent dengue and other mosquito-borne diseases and address waterlogging.

“Keeping our surroundings clean is a moral responsibility of every individual. We must work together with a strong sense of responsibility.

By joining hands, we can keep our environment clean and protect ourselves from dengue and other mosquito-borne diseases. Everyone must therefore play a role in raising awareness,” he said.

The DC made the remarks during a cleanliness drive aimed at preventing dengue and other mosquito-borne diseases, reducing waterlogging and building a cleaner city.

The cleanliness campaign was conducted by the Sadar Upazila administration on Saturday . As part of the drive, government offices organised awareness discussions and poster campaigns at various institutions, while stagnant water and accumulated garbage were removed from surrounding areas.

Officials and employees of the Upazila administration and representatives of various organisations were present during the campaign.

Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) SM Foyez Uddin said the primary objective of the campaign was to raise public awareness about cleanliness and encourage people to recognise the importance of protecting the environment.

“The cleanliness campaign will continue regularly. Every government office, as well as every locality, will gradually be brought under the programme,” he said.
